The Bali aesthetics at Palm Palm Bali remain beautifully intact, even after the major transformation at the start of 2025. Once a primarily wine-focused bar, the space has been reimagined as a laid-back brunch café. And when I first heard about the renewal on Instagram, I knew I had to pay another visit. Nestled right between Hongdae and Yeonnam-dong, Palm Palm Bali promises not only beautifully plated dishes but also a unique atmosphere that whisks you to Ubud in Bali.

Palm Palm Bali
Palm Palm Bali is about a 10-minute walk from Exit 3 of Hongik University Station, nested on the second floor of a small building in Yeonnam-dong. Depending on where you’re coming from, taking a bus can be more convenient than the subway—getting off near Yeonhui-dong (ie. Yeohui-dong Daewoo APT station) is a shorter walk than from Hongdae station.

Menu & Pricing
Palm Palm Bali had started out as a wine bar, until it underwent a big revamp in early 2025. Now they open earlier (at 10AM except on closed days on Tue/Wed), with diverse brunch offerings including pasta, sausage plates, toasts, with desserts and drinks. Price-wise most mains fall between 17,000 to 25,000 KRW, and drinks averaging around 6,000 to 8,000 KRW.
What I Ordered
Guanciale Garlic Tagliatelle

First I tried the Guanciale Garlic Tagliatelle—their signature pasta dish. The fresh tagliatelle was rich and silky with the coating from the egg yolk topping. Tossed with fragrant garlic and crispy chunks of guanciale (Italian delicacy made from cured pork cheek), the pasta was full of savory flavor and buttery richness. There was also a subtle nuttiness from toasted bread crumbs, adding a delightful crunch to each bite. Lastly a drizzle of truffle oil tied everything together with a rich, comforting aroma.
Shrimp Rye Bread Toast

Next came the Shrimp Rye Bread Toast, a lighter yet still satisfying plate. You get two slices of thinly sliced rye bread, lightly toasted and topped with plump, perfectly cooked shrimp. The toast had a thin spread of basil sauce, its herbaceous brightness complementing the natural sweetness of the seafood. And on top of the basil sauce rested soft & fluffy scrambled eggs, while a handful of arugula introduced a peppery bite that kept things crisp. Fresh, savory, and slightly earthy—it was the kind of brunch plate that could never go wrong.
Berry Mash Sausage Plate

Next up was the Berry Mash Sausage Plate, which was definitely the most interesting menu with a unique British-inspired flavor. The star here was the housemade raspberry compote—generously studded with raspberry seeds that added a popping texture against the soft mash, adding layers of brightness and surprise. The sausages were perfectly grilled and were robust in smoky savor. A handful of green peas offered a final touch of sweetness and color, making the entire dish feel hearty & comforting yet fresh with a twist.
Milk Tea & Drip Coffee

For drinks, I ordered their iced Milk Tea and my boyfriend went for Drip Coffee—which was available in free flow, a rare gem you hardly find in central Seoul. Once you choose your cup from their ‘mug trolley’ and place it on your table, the staff will offer refills throughout your meal. The coffee had a nutty & smooth body, while the milk tea was pleasantly sweet, lightly infused with a soft tea aroma. If you’re a coffee lover on the hunt for other brunch spots with free coffee refills, I also recommend checking out Friends & Yard in Seongsu or Original Pancake House, both equally generous with their caffeine offerings.
Vibe & Atmosphere
From the moment you step into Palm Palm Bali, there’s a sense of exotic escapism with its rattan furniture, tropical plants in every corner, and a big open kitchen that anchors the space with a home-like coziness. The warm lighting mimics the laid-back chill of Ubud in Bali while the grainy, soil-colored floor gives off the feeling of a sandy beach.

The layout is also worth noting. There are two large communal tables in the restaurant, which means you’ll likely be seated alongside other diners. But the spacing is generous with the seats far enough apart, so you don’t have to worry about feeling awkward or crowded.
3.8/5
Overall
If you have already visited Palm Palm Bali before 2025 and wrote it off as a wine bar, now is the time to revisit. It has transformed into a thoughtfully curated brunch destination that captures the essence of Ubud’s relaxed charm in the center of Seoul. If you’re looking for brunch in Hongdae with free-flow coffee, laid-back Bali style, and comfy homemade dishes, Palm Palm Bali should definitely be your new go-to.
