Location & Neighborhood

AVE Santa Clara is located in the heart of Silicon Valley in the Bay Area. Compared to Downtown San Francisco, Santa Clara feels much quieter, more residential, and significantly less crowded. It’s a city that’s heavily shaped by the tech industry, with companies like Apple, Google, and NVIDIA all within driving distance.

The property itself is situated along Calle Del Sol / Calle De Luna area, which is a relatively new and clean neighborhood filled with a lot of new apartment complexes. It doesn’t have the dynamic feel you might get in the more central area, but I personally liked the quiet, residential vibe.

From a convenience perspective, the location worked well for a longer stay. Grocery stores, cafes, and casual restaurants are all within a short driving distance, so having a car makes everything much easier in this area. This is definitely not a walk-everywhere destination, which is typical for most parts of Silicon Valley.

One Bedroom Apartment

AVE Santa Clara is a relatively new property, and it shows immediately. The building, lobby, and common areas all feel modern and well-maintained.

Layout & Features

I stayed in a one-bedroom unit, and the layout was very functional for a week-long stay. As you enter the unit, the kitchen is immediately on the right, and the bathroom is on the left. Walking further in, you reach the living room area with the bedroom located off to the side.

Most of the appliances like the washer/dryer and microwave were from Samsung, which made everything intuitive and easy to use. And a small but thoughtful detail was that they provided complimentary detergent for both the dishwasher and the washing machine.

The Wi-Fi was also very reliable; I didn’t experience any connectivity issues during the entire week, which is especially important if you’re working remotely.

Kitchen

The kitchen was spacious and designed in a modern, open layout with a countertop-style table. It came fully equipped with basic cookware, utensils, and tableware, which made it easy to prepare simple meals from day 1. All the major appliances were built-in and in excellent condition. This included a dishwasher, oven, microwave, and a large double-door refrigerator.

Most of the kitchenware was clean and in good condition, although not everything was perfectly maintained. For instance, one of the frying pans was quite heavily worn on the bottom; but this seemed more like an issue caused by previous guests rather than the property itself.

Bathroom

The bathroom was also quite spacious and clean, with a simple layout that included a shower booth, toilet, and sink.

But one area where I did experience some inconvenience was the shower. The water pressure of the shower was noticeably weak even when turned to the maximum setting. The faucet system was also a bit unusual: it didn’t allow for separate adjustment of water temperature and pressure. While the hot water itself worked well and heated up quickly, the overall shower experience was not as comfortable as I would have liked.

Living Room

The living room area included a sofa bed, coffee table, TV, and a desk, making it a versatile space for both relaxing and working. In terms of the view, neighboring units are very close to each other so there’s very limited privacy if the blinds are open. I found myself keeping the blinds closed most of the time but I guess this is a common issue in newer apartments.

One inconvenience I experienced upon check-in was that the sofa bed mattress had some visible stains, which was a bit disappointing considering the otherwise clean condition of the unit. The staff were responsive and quickly helped with the cleaning so it didn’t impact the stay significantly, but it did stand out as something that could be improved in terms of housekeeping quality control.

Bedroom

The bedroom was simple but comfortable, featuring a large bed and a closet. One thing that stood out was the generous storage and closet space throughout the unit, which made it easy to settle in for a longer family stay. The bed was also comfortable, and I didn’t have any issues sleeping during the stay.

Amenities at AVE Santa Clara

Fitness Center

If there’s one area where AVE Santa Clara truly stood out, it’s the amenities. The gym is one of the most impressive features of the property. It spans two floors (from the first to the second level) and is significantly larger than other apartments or hotels nearby.

The equipment is modern and well-maintained, and the space feels very clean and comfortable to use. The first floor is focused more on strength training, with weights and equipment like a punching bag, while the second floor is dedicated to cardio machines.

Coffee Machines & Pantry

Another standout feature is the 24/7 coffee machines. There are Emblem coffee machines located in both the lobby and the fourth-floor lounge, offering a variety of options including decaf, lattes, cappuccinos, and more.

The fact that takeaway cups are provided makes it incredibly convenient. For me, taking my coffee to-go became part of my daily routine, and it was a small but impactful detail that really enhanced the overall experience.

In addition to coffee, there’s also a sparkling water tap next to the filtered water station on the first floor, and I ended up using this quite often as well.

4th Floor Lounge & Pool Area

The fourth-floor lounge is a large, well-designed communal space that includes seating areas, workspaces, meeting rooms, a pantry, and even ping pong tables.

It feels like a hybrid between a coworking space and a social lounge, designed to encourage both productivity and community interaction.

Right outside the lounge, there’s an outdoor pool, hot tub and grilling stations. Even if you don’t use all the facilities, having access to a space like this makes the stay feel more flexible and dynamic.

Rooftop Deck

On the top floor (8th floor), there’s a rooftop deck that offers views over Santa Clara. There’s an indoor pantry-style space as well as an outdoor seating area. While the views aren’t dramatic in a skyline sense, it was a nice place to relax and get some fresh air.
