Story Behind the Name
Jade & Water’s first store is in Oksu-dong, which is a cozy neighborhood in Seoul with a name that reflects its natural surroundings. The name “Oksu” (옥수, 玉水) translates to “jade water,” symbolizing the area’s historical connection to the Han River and its clean waters.

Menu
Jade & Water’s Seoul Station branch offers a menu that blends classic all-day brunch options with some fusion twists – dishes like shrimp sando and kimchi fried rice are great for a hearty brunch with modern Asian flavors, while classic options like steak and lasagna are perfect for pairing with wine in the evening. The price range is fairly varied, with sandwiches generally around 15,000 KRW, pastas in the 20,000 KRW range, and main dishes starting at 25,000 KRW. While the menu shares similarities with the original Oksu branch, it feels like there are some unique variations at the Seoul Station location.
What I Ordered

1.Shrimp Sando
Their shrimp sando, a highly anticipated signature menu item, fell slightly short of expectations. The shrimp patty was a bit dry and the lack of sauce or complementary toppings resulted in a quite simple flavor profile. A touch of fresh ingredients like lettuce or cabbage would have added both texture and a refreshing contrast to the fried patty.

2.Chorizo Ragu Pasta
The chorizo ragu pasta was a delightful surprise, far exceeding expectations with its rich and creamy texture . At first glance it appeared to be a standard ragu pasta but the unique seasoning and ingredients set it apart. The sauce had a well-balanced blend of tomatoes and ragu without being too heavy or savory. What made the dish particularly interesting was the topping, which seemed to include perilla seeds, adding an unexpected nutty crunch to the velvety sauce. The overall flavor was somewhat reminiscent of ramen or maze soba, making it stand out from a typical ragu.

3.Yuzu Tiramisu
For dessert, the yuzu tiramisu was a mix of highs and lows. While it had an appealing presentation, the sweetness was overpowering and the yuzu’s citric tang, which could have added a refreshing balance, was too subtle for my liking. That said, the dessert’s rich sweetness could make it a good pairing with a dry red wine. Portion sizes at Jade & Water are generally on the smaller side, so adding a dessert or side menu to your order is a good idea to round out the meal.
Vibe & Atmosphere

The restaurant boasts simple and modern interiors, featuring an open kitchen that enhances the clean and inviting atmosphere. Large windows allow natural light to fill the space, while green accents and wooden details create a refreshing and nature-inspired ambiance. Conveniently located just 100 meters (a 3-minute walk) from Exit 7 of Seoul Station, it’s easily accessible for those looking to enjoy a relaxed meal in the heart of the city.

3.8/5
Overall
Jade and Water is conveniently located near Seoul Station, making it a great choice for those looking for casual & trendy restaurant before catching the KTX or while shopping in the Myeongdong and Namdaemun areas. The delicious variety of dishes offers something for everyone and I was also impressed by their unique fusion of Asian and Italian flavors. I also look forward to my next visit to enjoy their wine offerings with the beautiful nightscape of Seoul Station!
